Rebecca Fine is a singer, songwriter, and electronic musician from New York whose sound is a mix of warm electronic beats and tones with subtly enticing vocals.
Dealing with velocity ramp on the pedals from guitar and bass, artificial electric drums and synth sounds behind the icy vocal - that's what 'the briefing', an indie pop band is about. They've come from a cold country Latvia to enchant London with their nordic spirit. 'I believe that love is the only thing that can save us from our self destructive nature', says frontman Kristina. Her lyrics are about relationships in a classy and straight sense, they’re not based on rock’n’roll cliches as one night stands. They’re about 'real' love and passion. After and until 4am Lucy plays 80s, 90s and 00s alternative, indie, motown and soul.Doors 7.30pm. £5 entry. The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, London NW6 7JR 07949 008253

The Wheelbarrow, a "good old-fashioned London boozer, slap-bang in the heart of Camden town" is where I will be sharing the stage with Black Feathers, a laid-back folk duo.

She is spending the summer touring the UK to promote the release of her self-produced EP, 'The Prints'. Rebecca's songwriting draws from her classically trained background in piano and voice, producing melodic, rhythmically driven, electro-chill sounds. Her music has a slightly ironic tinge to it, for the subject of many a song is belonging in another time, how we depend too much on technology - while using electronic instruments to convey her message. EMMY'S UNICORN- 9:30pm http://www.emmysunicorn.com/ Emmy's Unicorn is a duo. They make pop music you'll love. They drink too many Martinis, but they're not really worried about it.ALL THE QUEEN'S RAVENS - 8:45pm https://www.facebook.com/queensravens All The Queen's Ravens are an enigmatic six-piece at large on the London folk scene. Their music is a flamboyant bi-lingual mix of nu-folk and country that alludes to blues gospel and sultry flamenco, delivering a foot-stomping, dress-swirling, mixed bagful of attention-grabbing magic. Fronted by two ladies with a devilish vocal chemistry and style, the band’s songs take a sidelong glance at sex, humour, obsession, death and good old fashioned romance, feverishly combining influences diverse as Pentangle, Fairport, The Byrds, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Johnny Cash, PJ Harvey, Estrella Morente, Kate Bush, Nick Cave, Ennio Morricone and Slayer to name but a few.... and more!!!www.clubfandango.co.uk
Free musical stylings from the fantastic group Nova's Basement, with yours truly providing the electronic sounds and beats. This is my first true collaboration with a group, don't miss it!
NYU has offered me a place in the Master's of Music Technology program at Steinhardt!
I am so happy that I can continue my education exactly in the area I want to study. This program is the only one for me - I didn't apply anywhere else. I hope that there I can focus on the creative/performance side of music technology.
Looking forward to the fairest of the seasons, Autumn in New York!
So rather than bore you with all the details of the month I just spent in London, I will just post some songs that have some relevence to my journey.
Chic - I Want Your Love (Todd Terje edit)
In the underground clubs in London I went to, in boutiques in Edinburgh, on my iPod, this cut seemed to follow me everywhere. Todd Terje's take on the disco classic is bound to make anybody boogie.
Shields - Mezzanine
Stopped in Newcastle for a couple of days and discovered this band called Shields. I can't wait for this to come out, the demo is so good! They are currently on tour in Europe, discover more at http://www.behindshields.com/
Burial - Kindred EP
How did the new Burial EP slip by me!? No words...this has been haunting me ever since I first heard it in Phonica Records in Soho.
Floating Points - K&G Beat
Asked the guy at Phonica to recommend another artist since I came to the UK already loving Burial, wanted to buy a record from someone I didn't know that wasn't necessarily labeled as dubstep. He pulled out the new Floating Points record, Shadows, and though I loved it, I wanted something a little more stripped down and less rich and complex. He recommended I get into his earlier stuff to ease into that, so I picked up a 12-inch with this K&G Beat on it.
Nico - The Fairest of the Seasons
Though I didn't listen to this until my return, bringing this vinyl from London and hearing these words back home might make this song the most sentimental and precious to me. Hope to see you again soon, London. xx
